BANNED
BOOKS WEEK
Welcome to Banned Books Week at The Little Book Place
Each year, communities across the country spotlight the books that have been challenged or banned in schools, libraries, and public spaces. When we say a book has been “banned,” it usually means an attempt was made to restrict or remove access to it—whether from a classroom, library, or community program.
This is about more than just books. It’s about the freedom to explore different perspectives, to engage with challenging ideas, and to hear voices that might otherwise be silenced. Protecting these books means protecting freedom of speech and ensuring that every reader—young and old—has the right to make their own choices about what to read.
Throughout Banned Books Week, we’ll reveal one title per day that has faced bans or challenges. Some may surprise you, some may be favorites—but all of them remind us why protecting the freedom to read matters.
